Short styles are certainly sexy for summer, but they’re not for every client. But long-haired ladies shouldn’t fret! According to Emiliano Vitale, owner of é Salon in Australia, styles reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour but with modern movement, sexy textures, and a nod to enhancing natural, real-life texture are stylish for mid-length and long hair. “Glamour girls such as Anne Hathaway and Lea Michele are embracing a return to the more natural, raw glamour, letting their tresses speak for themselves in down styles,” says Emiliano. “Longer-haired beauties are looking to traditional styling but adding in unique technique combinations.” For raw, disheveled and voluminous locks, create loose, tousled waves or curls from the mid-lengths to the ends. Another styling option is to combine sleek finishes with knots and twists. “The sleek, tight silhouette is not for everyone, but it’s perfect for women with thinner faces and model-esque features,” he adds. “It is all about your parting; keep the hair tight to the silhouette to eliminate volume” Get a FREE Full-Size Bottle of NEW Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Salt Spray!

We could’ve sworn we heard Donna Summer playing while we watched Sunday night’s Grammy Awards. We spotted a 1970s flair in lots of the hair looks—like on Miranda Lambert, Hillary Scott and Lea Michele—and it’s no surprise since fashion is seeing a strong 70s influence resurging in a big way for spring. We asked our Pureology PureArtist BFFs Natasha Sunshine, April Webster, Darren Pena and Sandra Joseph for the scoop on this 70s hair revival. “From soft waves and curls to long, hippie-length hair to simple ponytails, great hair rocked the red carpet,” they said. To achieve Miranda’s cool 1970s waves, they suggest spraying a heat styler like Pureology ColourStylist FortifyingHeatSpray in damp hair, then drying completely. Next, twist varying-sized square sections down the length of an iron then secure with single prong clips to cool. Remove the clips and work a pea-sized amount of hair polish through your hands and break up the curls with your fingertips. Finish with hairspray and you’re Grammy ready!
